Winnipeg-born cellist ROBERTA JANZEN joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 2004. A former member of the Canadian Opera Company orchestra, she has also performed as guest principal cellist with Les Violons du Roy, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared at festivals throughout North America, including Tanglewood, Ravinia, Rutgers Summerfest, the Banff Centre and the Toronto Summer Music Festival. She has also been featured on CBC radio in recital and has recorded for CBC Records.

Roberta is passionate about chamber music. Along with her performances with the LARK Ensemble, she is a frequent guest artist in chamber series throughout Toronto including Five Small Concerts, the Syrinx Series, Music Mondays, Hart House and the Arts and Letters Club.  She is a keen proponent of new music and has performed with TSO New Creations Players, Soundstreams, Continuum, and at the Music Gallery. She also enjoys presenting classical music in less conventional venues, from the intimate living rooms of Pocket Concerts to the stage of The Dakota Tavern. 

Ms. Janzen performs on a cello made in 1747 by  Juan Guillami.
